House Update

We finally have flooring!! It was only supposed to take 3 days to get after we ordered it, but I guess because of the holidays there was an overflow of orders and we were told that it was going to take longer... That wouldn't be that bad except we were trying to get into the house by Christmas and we are cutting it close. The flooring finally showed up on the 21st but it was supposed to acclimate to the climate in the house for 48 hours before laying it! We didn't have 24 hours so we cheated a little. I helped Deric cut and lay the floor, and I really enjoyed it. MY fingers and palms were sore for a few days (my knees too!) but it was still fun to do.

Waiting for it to warm up

Deric worked on laying the carpet pad upstairs while we waited on the wood floors. He really wanted to finish the pad upstairs, but he also wanted to watch the finale of his show so I pulled out the little tv so he wouldn't have to go back up there after his show was over. It got quiet up there so I snuck up the stairs and caught him on the floor watching his show. It must have been a good spot in the show because he had stopped working and was laying on the floor watching it.

The show's over back to work

It's time to take the window out and open up the wall...

...here goes...

tada! We have a hole!

Laying the floor

The wood floor is done and the pad downstairs is done too!

We now have a gas line for the stove and Deric is hooking it up, I am glad it will finally be put in its place and finally be out of the middle of my kitchen!! We have a lot of work to do still, it's about 7:30 on the 23rd and we aren't even close! Did I mention that family is coming over Christmas morning?? Aurgghhhh!!!

Another New Tradition

Here's another post I am behind on... a few weeks ago we drove around looking at the Christmas lights in the area. This house was really neat, it was lit up and the lights would change in time with music they had set to a radio station. It was really fun to sit there watching the lights change in time to the music. The kids were in awe, until Kylie saw a house across the street that had next to nothing outside and then she thought that THAT house was cool! We will definitely be doing this again next year!

House Update

More pictures I'm behind on... I figured I just can't post pictures from now till I get you up to speed. I realized that there aren't any pictures of me working on the house so I thought I'd take one to prove I helped!

Here I am! Hi guys!
The countertops came in!! They were delayed a few days but they made it!

These are from last week when we switched up the water. We had to switch the water from the well to the new place it was supposed to go or something like that. Anyways Deric turned off the well and took the line apart but there was still some pressure and nasty rusty water went spewing everywhere. The basement is coated in rusty mess, we ran into a few issues and I had to make a quick run to the hardware store for a few things 4 1/2 hours later we were done. THAT was a LONG evening!

This is our new water stuff.

Rusty rusty everywhere!

After rerouting the water lines we tested the pressure to see if there were any leaks. Everything looked good so we hooked it up and put it to the test with water. I was upstairs watching the bathroom for leaks and Deric was in the basement turning on the water and then was going to come up and check the kitchen... I'm standing in the bathroom and I hear this funny noise, I'm not really sure what it is so I stand there and listen. I never heard Deric come up from the basement so I wondered if I should check the kitchen but I didn't want to get in trouble for leaving my post in the bathroom. I checked one more time then went downstairs to see how it was going, the further down the stairs I got I realized that the funny noise I heard was water. Water shooting out of one of the fittings! We had a geyser in our kitchen! Deric heard me running down the stairs and shut the water off just in case and it was a good thing he did!

The cabinets were wet...
the ceiling was wet...
the counters, the floor, and everything around was wet...
even my pendant lights were wet! It was a rough few days there, I am glad those days are behind us now!

More Snow!

We have been so busy working on the house I am getting behind with my blogging!! These pictures are from the last big snow we had, I think it was about 2 weeks ago. I remember this because we had Murphy Christmas (post to follow) and Deric's office party... I wore my black dress pants and I still don't have black shoes so I wore my strappy silver shoes, and it was COLD!! The snow wasn't shoveled when we got home (because it was still snowing while we were gone) and I had to walk through it and it covered my feet it was so deep!! The next morning I took these pictures of the snow, I love the snow when it is on the ground and off the roads! Mostly because it hides all of our mud and lack of grass and it looks pretty.

Deric went outside and used the skid steer to plow the snow and the girls stood faithfully at the window watching him work.
Daddy working
That's the snow from our driveway... and the lack of mailbox. Yes, the snowplows knocked it off again this year! I wonder if I get to look forward to this every year...

Murphy Christmas

We went to Aunt Karen's house to celebrate Christmas with the Murphy side of the family. Deric stayed home and worked on the house and I took the kids. I wasn't able to stay for long because Deric's work party was the same night, and they only started 2 hours apart. So I only got to stay for an hour before I had to make the trek back home.

The kiddos with Aunt Maggie (the one who gave them the Grinch stuff) Kylie is holding the cd she gave them. It is a Praise Baby cd of Christmas songs. I love it, it is really a great Christmas cd! We have another Praise Baby cd and that one is pretty good too, I kept thinking I wanted to get another one so she must have read my mind!

We were getting ready to go and Brody spied the bread and dip, he was a big fan of the bread and it was really funny watching him go to town!

Since we only got to stay for an hour we didn't get to open presents with everyone, so they sent them home with us. Since I made it back just in time for the office party I told the girls that they would have to wait till the morning to open their gifts.

Taking the paper off

And trying to put it back on

Showing off their puzzle books (thanks Aunt Karen!)

Helping Brody open his present

I'm pretty sure this is the last time Brody had his gingerbread man. Reygann loves him and named him Gingy.

CHEESE

Huh?

They were VERY excited about these yummy presents! (thanks Aunt Maggie!)

Brody loves the bank!

The kids got Gold Dollars from Great Gramma Murphy and were excited about putting them in their piggy banks. (Thanks Gramma!)

Even Brody put his in, it took a while for him to figure it out it didn't help that he kept trying to eat them!

Good job Buddy!!

I am disappointed that I didn't get to stay longer but I had a good time for the short time I was there, I'm looking forward to next year...
