Our Door

I don't know why, but I thought I would show you a better picture of my front door. So here you go.

See not bad. Not what we wanted, but not bad.

Isn't my homemade wreath just gorgeous!?!

From the street it looks like a real house! Not that my house isn't real, but when one side is gutted it isn't a whole house... We are still missing the stairs on the porch though... Someday.

House Update

Ok, so these are SO old! I kinda have been a lazy blogger lately! I have been so busy and TIRED!! But I shouldn't make excuses...

We FINALLY have a new front door! We had to wait for our final draw (that was 3 months late) and once it came through we bought our door. It isn't the door we wanted, we spent forever trying to find where we could get the door we wanted for the best price and finally nailed it down, but when it came time to buy we decided we didn't want to pay that much for a door so we got this one instead. :0( It is ok, and still has the mission feel to it, but it isn't the same... But it is only a door right?? (I guess I am getting ahead of myself... you haven't even seen the door yet.)

Daddy was being too loud for me! (Pardon my pjs)

Yep, still being too loud! See daddy cutting the hole for our new front door?

Aren't we all dressed great? Reygann and Brody are in their pjs, and Kylie is wearing a dress up that is about 2 sizes to small! Somedays you just need to let them be!

Here is our new door... sigh. Now that Deric moved the door he was able to finish siding the front of the house! Yea! I also got the door painted, so from the outside we no longer look like such a mess! Granted the old door is still leaning up against the porch... you can't win them all I guess! I'll have to remember to take a picture of the front of house tomorrow so you can really see my door.

House Update

I haven't done a house update in a while (not for lack of trying)... so here we go. I am quite behind...

The wall to the left is our bathroom/playroom wall, the wall going away from the camera is the bathroom/closet wall (the closet is where the hole in the floor is). I don't have an updated inside photo, but the basement stairs (the hole) got taken out and covered over, and the door (the bright spot) got taken out and a window was put in, and the rest of the bathroom/closet wall was built.
We took out this ugly picture widow and filled the space back in.
I had to help and it was stinking heavy!
I was surprised at how dark it got after we covered it.
We also took out the kitchen (our new master bedroom) window and put in the 2 new ones.
(the inside of my bedroom windows)

If you are paying attention you would know that this is an old picture... it was the only one I could find with the back porch in it (just barely, but it is in the picture still!)
Deric surprised me by ripping off the porch (I wish he would have warned me so I could have taken a before)

Look at it go...

Now it is really gone!

Next he took out door, I was glad after it was gone. After he ripped the porch off I almost fell out the door! I was so used to it being there so I opened it up and started to step out! Seriously I had to grab on to keep from falling!! It was quite the rush!
Deric put in the rest of our stairs... we still can't use them since they are on the wrong side of the house, but they are done.
His little buddy watched him the whole time he worked.

Recognize this side? This is where the porch was. The two pieces of siding are missing because Deric has to take that pole down and then we won't need the supports so no sence putting holes in the new siding. Once we get the electrical switched over the pole will come down and the pieces will go in.

Deric's guy Jordan came over and helped out. It was nice to have the extra help and the girls had fun playing with him.

This is the most recent picture of the house. We are still waiting on our front door. It has to be moved from where the door is now so we can't side the front till the door is in. We got the porch done about a week ago. We are still waiting on stairs, hopefully he will build those soon.
Shew, I think that is it for now...

House Update

Of course these pictures span a week or two, when have I updated right away lately?! :0)

If you look at these two pictures at the same time it kinda looks like Deric is in both windows at the same time....

It was a nice warm day so I opened the girls window so Brody could talk with the guys!

Hi Daddy!
SMOOCH!
Hi Papaw!
Daddy and Papaw were working on the front of the house...

Kylie watching them working from the window.
When Deric is on the stage it is usually my job to get him things he needs, after many trips to get get him stuff I brought Brody with me (he would stand at the door and cry everytime I would step out). He needed another something while I was out there so I handed him Brody.
Brody had fun 'helping' daddy hammer
I had to run inside so I snapped a picture of them through the window in the door where Brody always stands and watches daddy at.
During the week Deric and I got the side of the garage done. It only took 2 evenings to get it done, and that's because we couldn't reach any higher the first night. The very top still isn't finished, because even with the stage he still can't reach that high.
Here he is using the pump jacks, you pump them up the 2x4's and place the stage on it. It isn't very safe feeling, and I wouldn't want to be up there!

This picture is from a while a go, Deric had to tear out the chimney (since it hasn't been used) to open up the downstairs.
It was a lot of work, he had to do it bit by bit. The roof part, the part in the attic, the part on the main floor, and the last of it in the basement! The basement one was worst! There aren't really any windows to open to clear out the dust, and you had to carry the bricks upstairs to the dumpster! That wasn't a fun job, I got to help.

All gone! I can't even tell where it was at!
